I live here in Japan so it's how I got the tickets to the only showing. The movie is only being shown in 3 select theaters across Japan for what they say will only be one night only.
I had to wait in line on Valentine's day to get my ticket for the Umeda (Osaka) showing and it was a pain!
They gave me a free poster given only for that day though.
The movie still stars many of the main characters from the original series, but the story is completely different. Renton lives on the Gekko with Holland as a commander.Renton wants to rescue his childhood friend (Eureka) and take her away with him because she is held captive by the Government. Of course, there will be some sort of alien element into it. The alien element is apparently "just now appearing" on Earth. They (like most Japanese) are being very vague on the move subject. I will let everyone know what I see though, so keep tuned!

my internet was down. oh man your so lucky you got to see it!!! it was on valentines day? lol i wish i could have seen it. so thats the story huh? its different but it still sounds very interesting. i want to see it even more now lol. my questions are if you know when it is coming out in the U.S.? and do eureka and renton fall in love in the story?

As far as I know, right now, there isn't any planned release in the United States. However,I wouldn't put it passed Dai Sato to push for it. He made a killing with the Ghost in the shell film. Check out my blog on the story. I saw it at the end of last month (the opening night). I give it mixed reviews. And of course Eureka and Renton fall in love! haha.
